OnMay 22nd, at about 2:15 am, firefighters were called to a home in Bury on McIver street after Molotov cocktails had been thrown onto the front of the house which caught fire. Two adults and two children were in the house at the time. The SQ is presently conducting an investigation to see exactly what caused the fire. No-one was hurt during the incident.
On May 26th, officers with the Regie de police Memphremagog (RPM) arrested two sixteen year-old boys after receiving a complaint about a break-in in a chalet on Cabana Street, in Magog. The break-in took place last Saturday when the boys entered the chalet through a window on the side. It was the fourth complaint at this location since April, and each break-in was accompanied by vandalism, except the last. Later that night, officers with the RPM stopped a vehicle on Des Pins, in Magog. An all-terrain vehicle that was in the vehicle’s trunk drew the attention of the police who discovered that it had just been stolen from a property nearby.
Many marijuana growing greenhouses have been found by the police recently. In the municipalities of Lawrenceville, Bonsecours, Ste-Anne de la Rochelle and South Stukely, four greenhouses were dismantled, all powered with stolen electricity. Almost 1,300 cannabis plants, several bags of marijuana and some hashish was found. Eight suspects were arrested and five of those were detained.
A middle-aged man fell to his death from the Pinacle, in Baldwin’s Mills, on the weekend.
