Uplands Presents a Community Art Project Melting-Pot Mosaic
Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre is unveiling a community art project that has been four years in the works. On Sunday, June 1st between 2pm and 4 pm, the public is invited to the vernissage for mosaïque Melting-Pot mosaic which will exhibit the collection of mosaics made by close to forty participants from the Townships community.
In a series of four 6 week workshops, each participant made two projects, one of which they were asked to donate to the Melting-Pot, and the other, which they kept for themselves. The donated projects will become part of larger mosaic murals which will be hung at different venues in the community, while the remaining projects will be exhibited in the Uplands gallery until June 22nd.
This project was made possible by a grant from Canadian Heritage, and became a reality thanks to the tremendous support of Dixville Foundation. Materials for the projects came from a number of sources throughout the community, including donations of dishes, broken jewelry, rocks, shells, marbles, toys and much more. Members of the community at large contributed in a number of ways, and we hope that everyone will be a part of celebrating this project, which had as its mission, to bring together as many people in our region as possible.
We hope that you will be among us. For more information, please don’t hesitate to visit our website: www.uplands.ca or the Facebook Page: Mosaique Melting Pot Mosaic. You can also e-mail us at: email@example.com or call: (819)564-0409.
