SPA finds 220 dogs in barn
TheSociete protectrice des animaux de l’Estrie (SPA), in collaboration with MAPAQ, the International Humane Society and the Sureté du Quebec, rescued twelve cats and two hundred and twenty dogs, many of them pregnant females, from a puppy mill located in a barn in the Bonsecours region of the Townships.
“We quickly sent ten members of our personnel, inspectors, patrollers, veterinarians and technicians to the site. This intervention followed a routine visit by inspectors,” explained Cathy Bergeron of the SPA. “We proceeded with the seizure for reasons of general negligence and non-respect of care-taking norms.”

The animals in the worst shape were immediately examined by the SPA’s veterenarians and technicians. Because of the large number of animals saved, the dogs were taken to the MAPAQ emergency shelter and the cats were taken to the SPA Estrie.

Bishop’s College School held a 21-point lead going into the final tournament thanks to a brilliant performance last Wednesday at the Dufferin Heights Golf and Country Club. However with each golfer the Pipers slowly chipped away at their lead. Anthony Gosselin ignited the boys from Galt with the lowest round of the day by posting a score of 74. Jakob Laplante and Liam Pankovitch put the Pipers within reach of the comeback with scores of 87 and 86 respectively. With everyone huddled around the 18th green awaiting the final group, it became clear that Jayson Robillard made the comeback complete with his best score of the year a 79.
Galt would not only win the final team major of the year, but the League banner as well for the lowest cumulative team total for the season. Stanstead College and Massey-Vanier rounded out the standings finishing third and fourth. Gosselin also took home his third low gross trophy on the season out of the four tournaments.
