Over a dozen citizens attended North Hatley’s council meeting on Monday night. “They had questions about the water filtration project and the downtown project. We reassured them that studies would be done to ensure that the citizens would be protected in case of any future problems with that project. Some are concerned because it is a flood zone and they don’t want to be responsible or liable for any damages from possible flooding,” explained mayor Michael Page.

The municipality plans to build hiking trails on the Scowen property, which is about 40 acres. “Our goal is to make the property more accessible to the public, possibly have a place where people can park their cars,” said the mayor.

The North Hatley Farmers Market will unofficially open in River Park, this Saturday, and officially at a later date. An antique car show will be held in North Hatley on June 15th, in River Park. The town earned $1500 for the NHRS with its Mother’s Day Half Marathon, held in May.
