TheBeaulne Museum of Coaticook is delighted to present the exhibition « en tre sur d autres un ers by the artist Renée Morin from the 22nd of June to the 10th of August 2014. The grand opening will be held on Sunday the 22nd of June at 2pm. The public and the press are cordially invited.

Renée Morin, a multidisciplinary artist paints with acrylics and uses mixed techniques. Numeric impression is also part of her work and she prefers stone and bronze for sculpting.

Her scientific training in microbiology enabled her to work with the infinitely small to the infinitely big. From MACRO to MICRO she metamorphoses parts of flowers, fruits, pollen and microorganisms within her abstract creations which are full of colors and vibrant textures. She loves nature and the strength within these phenomenons which she interprets and transforms into her colorful and promising creations.

Within her sculptures, nature’s strength is also present in an abstract way. One may find a representation of pieces of life and the difficulty in establishing a just balance. Everything wavers between equilibrium and imbalance, a theme which is recurrent within her sculpted creations. Therefore, in painting, in sculpting or in numeric impression she privileges abstract creations of parallel worlds.

The exhibit contains more than thirty paintings and twenty sculptures.

For more than fifteen years, she has participated in many solo and collective exhibits and has received numerous honorific mentions. Her creations may be found in several private collections.

The6th Annual Piper Classic Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 5th at the Milby Golf Club. The popular event has raised around $35, 000 over its five year history and looks to break the amount they raised last year.

The idea of the fundraiser originated six years ago in memory of John Haller who was a long time teacher and coach at Alexander Galt, but tragically lost his battle with cancer. Mr. Haller was not only a great husband and father of three children (Anna, Jared and Erin), but a dedicated teacher and coach that helped and inspired hundreds of students.

The money raised helps support all of the interscholastic programs at Galt, such as uniforms, transportation, equipment, photos and bursaries. Four major athletic bursaries are handed out each year from the Piper Classic in honour of Mr. Haller. Jacki Lumley (Ella Hoy), Alex Mckinney Therrien (Reg Newton),
