Robert Hall Appointed Chair Of The Board Of Governors At Bishop’s University
Bishop’s University is pleased to announce that Me Robert Hall has been appointed Chair of its Board of Governors. Me Hall is the second Chair to be appointed since the University’s governance structures were modified in 2010.
Me Hall graduated from Bishop’s University in 1979, and went on to complete his LL.B. at the Université de Sherbrooke. He is currently Vice-President Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary of Cascades Inc. Me Hall is a longtime resident of the Eastern Townships.
Michael Goldbloom, C.M., Principal and Vice-Chancellor, expressed his gratitude to Me Hall for strengthening his commitment to the cause of the University. “Bishop’s is very fortunate to have such a highly respected member of the Quebec business community take on this key role.”
Principal Goldbloom also expressed his gratitude to Dr. Robert ‘Squee’ Gordon, B.A. ’60, D.C.L. ’04, who served as Chair of the Corporation and then of the Board from 2007 to 2014. “Squee played a pivotal role in guiding the University back on to a positive path following the strike and lockout of 2007. He was instrumental in the governance reform that established a modern Board in 2010.”
Me Hall is a Director and Chairman of the Board of Boralex Inc. and Chairman of the Board of Reno de Medici. Before joining Cascades in 1994, he was a partner with the law firm Fraser, Milner, Casgrain (now Denton’s) in Montreal. He is a member of the Barreau du Québec and of the Canadian Bar Association.
Me Hall served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Collège-Mont-Notre-Dame in Sherbrooke between 2008 and 2013. He was a member of the fundraising campaign committee for the Ronald McDonald House in Montreal. He has also participated in fundraising campaigns for many charitable organizations including the Tour CIBC Charles Bruneau.
