Successful Blood Drive for Stanstead Firefighters
Organizers of last Thursday’s blood donor clinic in Stanstead, the Stanstead Volunteer Firefighters, were very happy that they surpassed their goal of eighty donors. “It was very encouraging for our blood drive. We got eighty-eight people without having to beg anybody,” said fire captain Jean Fluet.
Hema-Quebc was also very happy with the results. “I’ve expressed concerns to Hema-Quebec about the number of donors we get and they said that eighty-eight donors was very worthwhile for them. We’ve seen an increase in the number of donors this year and we hope to get even more next year,” concluded Mr. Fluet.
Eighteen year-old Julie Jacques gives blood for the first time as her parents Janice Smith and Clement Jacques, who have given blood eighteen and thirty-three times respectively, look on proudly. They are accompanied by Hema-Quebec nurse Jocelyne Chaurette.
