5km Road Race returns for lucky 13th
Get out your runners for the 13th annual five kilometer BorderFest run, taking place this Saturday morning to kick off Stanstead’s annual BorderFest. Runners of all ages (there are nine age categories going from twelve and under to eighty and older) come from near and far to compete for medals and prizes in this popular race that brings runners through historic Stanstead and onto the recreational trail through the woods. The runners finish where they begin, at the Stanstead Town Hall on Dufferin Street.
Will anyone beat the race’s long-standing course records this year? The times to beat are: 15.26 (male), the time of Francois Menard-Kilrane in 2008; and 19.14 (female), the time set by Mary-Lou Butterfield in 2010.
Race registration takes place between 8:15 am and 9:15 am, in the Stanstead College gymnasium on Dufferin Street, just before the race on July 5th. The race begins at 9:30 am. For additional information call Michael Sudlow at 819 876-5378.
