Two Social Economy projects get funding
The CLD of the Memphremagog MRC recently awarded $30,500 to two local enterprises from its FDCEES funds. The Maison Soleil, in Potton Township, received $25,000 to put in place a permanent residence for four adults with intellectual disabilities. The complete support services will be offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will cover daily needs as well as social integration and community activities. The project will include the creation of a full time job and a part time job, and an investment of almost $600,000 in the region.
The Coop de solidarite de St-Etienne-de-Bolton, nicknamed the Café du Village, received $5,500. Inaugurated in 2011, it offers grocery products, a bistro and a gathering place for local citizens. To keep the cooperative operational, organizers now want to offer two more services: catering and take-out meals. The funding will help them rearrange the kitchen to be able to increase the production of food, a renovation that will cost about $13,000.
