Auction to benefit well-kept cemetery
An auction is being organized to raise money for the upkeep of the Marlington Cemetary, the Ogden cemetery that has tombstones that go back almost two hundred years. The cemetery, the oldest burial ground in Stanstead County, is neat and well-kept by volunteer members of the Marlington Cemetary Association and is still in use today.
The benefit auction will be taking place on August 2nd, beginning at 9:00 am, on Dale Bullock’s farm at 3685 Marlington Road. “The auction will probably last all day because we have a lot of donations already,” said Jerry Smith who volunteered to be the auctioneer for the event. “What doesn’t get sold will be given away at the end of the day. It’s all gotta go,” he added. Some of the items to be auctioned include a wooden dining table set with six chairs, old bobsleds, and lovely birdhouses made by members of the Bullock Family.
Anyone who would like to donate an item to this auction can call either Jerry Smith, at 819 876-2184, or Dale Bullock at 819 876-5072.
