Auc­tion to ben­e­fit well-kept ceme­tery

An auc­tion is be­ing or­ga­nized to raise money for the up­keep of the Mar­ling­ton Cemetary, the Og­den ceme­tery that has tomb­stones that go back al­most two hun­dred years. The ceme­tery, the old­est burial ground in Stanstead County, is neat and well-kept by vol­un­teer mem­bers of the Mar­ling­ton Cemetary As­so­ci­a­tion and is still in use to­day.

The ben­e­fit auc­tion will be tak­ing place on Au­gust 2nd, be­gin­ning at 9:00 am, on Dale Bul­lock’s farm at 3685 Mar­ling­ton Road. “The auc­tion will prob­a­bly last all day be­cause we have a lot of do­na­tions al­ready,” said Jerry Smith who vol­un­teered to be the auc­tion­eer for the event. “What doesn’t get sold will be given away at the end of the day. It’s all gotta go,” he added. Some of the items to be auc­tioned in­clude a wooden din­ing ta­ble set with six chairs, old bob­sleds, and lovely bird­houses made by mem­bers of the Bul­lock Fam­ily.
