Derby Line Community Day & Village Wide Yard Sale
The 13th annual Derby Line Community Day and Village Wide Yard sale will take place on August 9th throughout the village of Derby Line. The community day begins at 10am at Baxter Park and is full of lots of free, live music and entertainment. Besides the fun provided by the Circus Smirkus advanced campers, the Northwoods Stewardship Center, ETWA Wrestling, a petting zoo, face painting, Kingdom Bounce and Slide and more, local musicians will perform from 10 am until dusk. The Montshire Museum of Science, from Norwich, Vermont, will organizing some hands-on science activities for everyone one of which will even include a wind tunnel!
An antique car show will be put on by Cars of Yesteryear while medieval crafting demonstrations, such as blacksmithing and weaving, will take people even farther back in time! There will also be a roller derby demonstration on the tennis courts and a tae kwon do demonstration.
In addition, browse among the many vendors for a bit of shopping, to grab a bite to eat or play some bingo at the village hall. There will be food vendors, handicraft vendors and commercial vendors on site. The popular chef of the newly opened Derby Line Village Inn will be showing people how to make an authentic apple strudel and providing samples of that delectable dessert. Fireworks will be set off at dusk.
These events and activities are provided free of charge thanks to the generous contributions of many local sponsors. “It’s important for us that this event is free. We don’t want families to need to spend a lot of money,” explained Bethany Creaser who is on the organizing committee.
Stop by the village’s info booth or play some bingo to help support this event. There will be a Tupperware fundraiser at the community day info booth and bingo in the village hall to raise money to help cover the costs of Derby Line Day.
In addition, stop by the village to shop at one of the many yard sales that are participating in the village wide yard sales. Sales begin at 8am and yard sale maps can be picked up at the village hall on August 8th and 9th.
