Basketball To Host Elite Camp
TheBishop’s Gaiters men’s basketball team and head coach Rod Gilpin will host their first ever Elite Gaiters Skills Academy for boys aged 13-17 from Aug. 18-20. The camp is set to take place in the new gym of the Bishop’s University Sports Centre from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each of those nights.
The camp is being offered with the aim of helping local high school aged basketball players develop and fine tune their skills. Gilpin and his coaching staff along with the help of a few Bishop’s players will lead the campers through various skills and teach them new concepts including more advanced systems used by the Gaiters. The information learned at this camp will help all players improve whether they are trying to step-up a level in their school or prepare for the leap to the Cégep.
“We are trying to take the basketball camps that are run in the summer one step further,” said Gilpin. “We will target local high school aged boys who are looking to improve and get ready for their seasons. One of our goals is to increase the visibility of basketball in the area and hopefully produce great local talent who can play at a high level.”
There is still room to register for the Elite Gaiters Skills Academy. To do so or to obtain more information contacts Coach Gilpin at email@example.com.
The Gaiters men’s basketball squad will be back in the gym towards the end of August as they prepare for their 2014-15 campaign. Stay up-to-date with all of Bishop’s Athletics at www.gaiters.ca.
