New gallery for NHRS

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - North Hathey

On Friday, August 15th, the North Hatley Recreation Society (NHRS) celebrated the opening of the new gallery at the municipal «Pleasant View Beach». Following the ribbon cutting, there was a michoui and dance to celebrate the completion of the gallery.

This project was realized due to the participation of the three groups: the Recreation Society, the PACTE Rural and the municipality of North Hatley. The Recreation Society has held garage sales, dances, antique shows, and sponsored the Mother’s Day Run to raise $13,000 to redo the gallery. The PACTE Rural de Memphremagog generously contributed $12,000 toward the project. The building, which is over 80 years old, has fallen into disrepair and this was the first step of the building being restored. Phase II will be to replace the windows, siding etc. Fundraising for this part of the project will start soon. The organizers thank all the volunteers who helped.
