Coaticook making time capsule for 2114

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

This Friday, September 12th, the Coaticook 150th committee, the Harmonie de Coaticook and the Societe d’histoire et patrimoine de Coaticook will together write a page in history by burying a time capsule that is not to be opened for one hundred years, in 2114! For this historic occasion, the public is invited to also leave their traces for the future generations of Coaticook.

The placing of time capsules is much more common in the United States than in Canada. A little bit of everything, including messages, is put in a large steel capsule then buried to be dug up at a much later date.

Beginning at 4:00 pm on Friday at Parc Chartier, a photographer will be on site to take photos of the participants. They will then be put into an album and the album will be placed in the time capsule along with a book of signatures of the participants. Those interested can have the photo of themselves sent to their email address for a small fee.

For more information call 819 849-2721, ext 280, or visit www.coaticook150.ca.
