Police News

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

Members of the Regie de police de Memphremagog (RPM) will intensify surveillance in school zones to remind drivers that the safety of students is not a one day or one week affair, only at the beginning of the school year. The respect of speed limits, school crossings, mandatory stops, traffic lights and flashing lights on school buses will also be under the watchful eyes of the force. The speed limit in all school zones has been 30 km per hour since 2011. These measures will continue throughout the school year.

The RPM would also like the help of the population to locate marijuana plantations or grow-ops. The cannabis industry profits mainly organized criminals and the products too often find themselves in the hands of the youth in the region. Call Echec au crime at 1 800 711-1800.
