The Past Beneath our Feet

Stanstead Journal - - NEWS BRIEFS -

A History Walk around the grounds of the Old Stone House Museum entitled The Past Beneath our Feet will be presented by Andrew Beaupre on Thursday Sept. 18, 11:00--1:00. It is Free and open to the public.

Andrew, who conducted an archaeological investigation at the Museum this summer, will point out various landscape features and explain what they might tell us about hidden history of Brownington. Discovering the original foundation site of Brownington Academy is one intriguing mystery in need of solution.

The two story wooden schoolhouse building was removed from its foundation in 1869 and rolled down the hill to its present position, where it serves as both Grange and church hall. Its original location is now a hay field. For information 754-2022, www.oldstonehousemu
