Improved services for Magog public transport
There have been changes made to the Magog city bus route and there will also be a new shuttle service, beginning on September 26th, between the Magog terminus and Mansonville on Friday nights and Sunday nights. The Transport des Alentours has also updated its image: all of its buses offering public transport will be the same colour. Bus stops will be installed this fall. Joan Westland-Eby, the mayor of Bolton
East and president of Transport des Alentours, said: “I’m enchanted with the new logo. The members of our Board wish to offer alternatives to driving solo and the slogan we have chosen is very appropriate: Transport des Alentours, TA facon de te deplacer.”
The city shuttle goes all around the City of Magog and has been in service for a year. Most who use it are students going to the Magog terminus to catch a transfer to college or university. The monthly pass for students for the combination of urban and interurban transport is $100. However, this service is for everyone, not just students!
The city circuits have been improved. Students can still get to Sherbrooke for early classes and the midday circuits have been adjusted to be able to offer to Magog citizens a way to get back and forth to the commercial districts on Principale and Sherbrooke Streets. The cost is $3 a trip, payable in change directly to the bus driver.
The new route that has been added between the Magog terminus and Mansonville on Friday and Sunday nights will take the chemin des Peres, Nicolas-Austin and routes 243 and 245, and end in the Mansonville town centre. The cost is $3.50 a trip and is payable in exact change directly to the driver.
On September 22nd, on World Car-Free Day, people are invited to try out the urban public transport system of
Transport des Alentours for free! The schedules and routes can be found at www.mrcmemphremagog.com or by calling 819 843-3350.
