The Sureté du Quebec is looking for 43 yearold Stephane Tremblay for circulating counterfeit money in the Beauce region during the last few weeks. He is suspected of operating in other areas, such as the Estrie, as well. Citizens are encouraged to keep vigilant and to check the website at sq.gouv.qc.ca to learn how to recognize counterfeit money.
The Regie de police Memphremagog (RPM) arrested a 63 year-old man in Victoriaville on September 15th. He is suspected of sexually abusing four young boys between the ages of seven and eleven between 1998 and 2011. Originally from Magog, the suspect was arrested following an investigation which began in December of 2011 after a first complaint from an individual. Once the
suspect’s name is available to the public, which should be soon, any other victims of this man are encouraged to report to the RPM. The suspect is known to police and was once the head of a network of drug traffickers. He was also found guilty of dealing cocaine and gangsterism in 2008.
Operation Cisaille continues in the Estrie region. On September 9th, SQ officers eradicated 300 mature marijuana plants in the municipalities of Eastman and Potton. During the week before, 940 plants were found and seized in the municipalities of St-Isidore-de-Clifton and Bury. In the last ten years,
Operation Cisaille has led to the eradication of 6 million marijuana plants. Close to 25,000 investigations were opened in connection to the production or selling of marijuana and more than 9000 arrests have been made.
