Stanstead Journal - - LENOXVILLE NEWS - Sherbrooke, Lennoxville

On Saturday the Champlain Cougars cross country team took part in the first competition of the North-East Division of the RSEQ (réseau des sports étudiants du Québec). This young team (third year in existence) performed at the height of its goals.

The girls finished 5th out of 20 teams in the first race of the Division that was held in Trois-Rivières. Only nine small points separated them from 4th place. The excellent performance of Meggie Dargis on the 3rd step of the podium should be noted (see photo)! The three other point markers finished in 31st place (Marianne Couture), 40th place (Frederique Taschereau) and 42nd place (Marianne Peloquin).

The men finished 11th in the team competition at Trois-Rivières. The best performer finished in 24th position (Yassine Nassiri) out of 140 runners.

The team will take part in the 2nd competition of the RSEQ in Sherbrooke next Saturday (base de plein air André-Nadeau) and the conference championship will be held in Québec on October 4.
