The Wood­shed Gallery proudly presents an ex­hibit of pho­to­graphic prints by Mark Dan­nen­hauer and Ron T Si­mon with an open­ing re­cep­tion on Septem­ber 28th at 2 pm – at the Bread and Pup­pet farm, Route 122, Glover, VT. Mark’s por­tion of the ex­hibit is en­ti­tled “Place/Dis­placed II”, ver­sion two of an on­go­ing pho­to­graphic ex­am­i­na­tion of sense of place and un­in­vited dis­place­ments. His work fea­tures images in search of Wen­dell Berry’s writ­ing stu­dio in Port Royal, KY, of the War Re­lo­ca­tion Cen­ter in Man­za­nar, CA, and of Peter Schu­mann’s solo ex­hi­bi­tion of sculp­tures, paint­ings, and books at the Queens Mu­seum.

Mark is pho­tog­ra­pher and film­maker liv­ing in Shutes­bury, MA. He toured na­tion­ally and in­ter­na­tion­ally with Bread and Pup­pet for more than a decade. He founded and di­rected two pup­pet com­pa­nies in­clud­ing his present dor­mant theater, Ninots. Mark has been doc­u­ment­ing Bread and Pup­pet for the past decade, in­clud­ing his on­go­ing “Bread and Pup­pet: An Emerg­ing Mo­saic,” an oral his­tory project cap­tur­ing tiles of B &P his­tory in the words of the par­tic­i­pants. Ron’s por­tion of the ex­hibit fea­tures “Re­cent Photographs of Bread and Pup­pet.” This is ex­hibit is what has be­come clas­sic Ron Si­mon for­mat: a great ob­ser­va­tional eye, sur­pass­ing tech­ni­cal skill with the cam­era, and a con­stant pas­sion for ex­per­i­men­ta­tion and per­fec­tion in the pho­to­graphic print­ing process. Prints in this ex­hibit will be drawn from re­cent se­ries of The Bird­catcher in Hell, Piero del Francesco, The Shat­terer of Worlds, and cir­cus and pageant.

Ron is a pho­tog­ra­pher and visual artist liv­ing in Mon­treal, P.Q. His photo work was first pub­lished in 1984 for the Nikon In­ter­na­tional Pho­tog­ra­phy Contest. He pub­lished his first photo book, “Re­hears­ing with Gods: Photographs & Es­says on the Bread and Pup­pet Theater,” with text by Marc Estrin in 2004. He has been pho­tograph­ing Bread and Pup­pet for sev­eral decades, with images fa­mil­iar to view­ers around the world.
