Tastes of the King­dom at the Old Stone House Mu­seum

Next Sun­day, Septem­bre 28 th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. come taste and pur­chase lo­cal ap­ples, cheese, spir­its, maple prod­ucts, meats, baked goods, and more at the Sa­muel Read Hall House on the cor­ner of Old Stone House Rd. There will be ap­ple cider press­ing, a cheese mak­ing demon­stra­tion at the hearth, an ap­ple chomp contest for the kids, a Good Old Ap­ple Pie contest, an heir­loom veg­etable ex­hibit, fire­wood raf­fle, and soup and bread for lunch. Small fee for Ad­mis­sion a per­son, but free for those over 90, un­der 12, or peo­ple who bring an heir­loom veg­etable to ex­hibit or an ap­ple pie for the contest. Ad­mis­sion in­cludes a self-guided tour of the first floor of the mu­seum, with and new pho­to­graphic ex­hibit “New­port Then and Now”, and two barns with an­tique agri­cul­tural and trans­porta­tion equip­ment.
