Stanstead Journal - - FROM PAGE ONE - Potton

On June 26th, Micheline McDuff, of Potton Township, was found guilty of a violation of the Reglement sur les exploitations agricoles. On April 28th, 2010, Mrs. McDuff, a landowner, did not take the necessary measures to make sure that waste from animals did not reach surface or underground water, which goes against article 5 of the Reglement. She was given a fine of $2000 and also must pay the court costs and reimburse the Ministry of the environment for their legal fees of $1,004.

Residents of the Eastern Townships can report any actions they see that may damage the environment by calling 819 820-3882, or emailing, or by calling Urgence-Environnement at 1 866-694-5454.
