Consolidation of Waterloo

Stanstead Journal - - CLASSIFIEDS - Knowlton

OnSept.11/14 several Odd Fellows were witness to a Consolidation Ceremony where members of Waterloo # 27 Lodge joined Knowlton # 28. Grand Master Ed Copping, his Marshal, Joyce Copping, Deputy Grand Master, Arnold Mackeage acting as Chaplain, and Greg Barton Grand Warden, acting as Vice Grand and Grand Secretary, Wilhelm Loken, put on a very Impressive ceremony-nowadays very rare. This, though sad when a lodge gives up its Charter, may get to be more common than we like!! Members who are getting too old to attend, and lack of younger people interested in committing to this order, are causing our lodges to close their doors. The ladies branch, the Rebekahs, are in the same boat!! We all wish those lodges who are forced to give up or consolidate or join other lodges will find contentment in their new space and harmony will continue and our good works continued.
