Ares­i­dentof the Magog area made a com­plaint to the (RPM) last week, be­liev­ing he was a vic­tim of fraud. The man sent $3000 in Amer­i­can funds to some­one for the rental of a villa in Costa Rica, then dis­cov­ered that the per­son he sent the money to did not own the villa. The money will never be re­cov­ered. Peo­ple are en­cour­aged to deal with lo­cal, known com­pa­nies for th­ese kinds of trans­ac­tions.

Last Thurs­day night, around 11:30, a 48 year-old man was disturbing the peace on Prin­ci­pale West, in Magog. Drunk and half naked, the man tried to hit a po­lice of­fi­cer and was ar­rested. He was on pro­ba­tion and also had an ar­rest war­rant out for him.

On Satur­day, a 57 year-old man from Or­ford Town­ship was ar­rested after a hit and run ac­ci­dent. At around 6:45 pm on Merry North, in Magog, he crashed into a car parked along the curb, push­ing it onto a lawn. He soon re­turned to the scene of the ac­ci­dent and was ar­rested for driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence.

Late Satur­day night, van­dal­ism was done all along Fran­cois-Her­tel Street all the way to Merry Point, in Magog. Fences were dam­aged, about twenty pic­nic ta­bles and a dozen garbage cans were turned over, a bike rack was thrown into the lake, etc. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion about this crime can call the RPM or at 1 800-711-1800.

On Sun­day, around 11:00 am, a of­fi­cer clocked a 23 year-old driver on au­toroute 55, near Mel­bourne, do­ing more than 175 km/hr. The young man was driv­ing in the south­ern di­rec­tion. He re­ceived a fine of $1,220 and 14 in­ap­ti­tude points. The Saint Al­bert res­i­dent also had his li­cense sus­pended for seven days.
