Chicago Marathon a chal­lenge for Roy

Sher­brooke­wheelchair ath­lete Diane Roy fin­ished ninth at the an­nual Chicago Marathon, held on Sun­day in Illi­nois. Amer­i­can Tatyana McFadden fin­ished first with a time of 1 h 44 min Wheel­chair ath­lete 50 sec. Ms. Roy’s familof Sher­brooke, was iar ad­ver­saries, Manuela happy to be able to fin­ish the Chicago Marathon. Schaer of Switzer­land (1 h 45 min 14 sec.) and Amanda McGrory of the United States (1h 45 min 49 sec.), fin­ished sec­ond and third. Ms. Roy fin­ished with a time of 2h 9 min 6 sec.

“The con­di­tions were about av­er­age for that marathon, there was a fair amount of wind,” com­mented Ms. Roy. “The re­sults were so-so, but I knew that it was go­ing to be dif­fi­cult.”

“Con­sid­er­ing the con­di­tion I am in, I am sat­is­fied. I fin­ished the race! The time was not very fast, but I wanted to con­tinue and fin­ish the race. I don’t think I could have done bet­ter to­day,” she con­cluded.
