Chicago Marathon a challenge for Roy
Sherbrookewheelchair athlete Diane Roy finished ninth at the annual Chicago Marathon, held on Sunday in Illinois. American Tatyana McFadden finished first with a time of 1 h 44 min Wheelchair athlete 50 sec. Ms. Roy’s familof Sherbrooke, was iar adversaries, Manuela happy to be able to finish the Chicago Marathon. Schaer of Switzerland (1 h 45 min 14 sec.) and Amanda McGrory of the United States (1h 45 min 49 sec.), finished second and third. Ms. Roy finished with a time of 2h 9 min 6 sec.
“The conditions were about average for that marathon, there was a fair amount of wind,” commented Ms. Roy. “The results were so-so, but I knew that it was going to be difficult.”
“Considering the condition I am in, I am satisfied. I finished the race! The time was not very fast, but I wanted to continue and finish the race. I don’t think I could have done better today,” she concluded.
