World’s largest honor Society
Erica Zucker, a 3rd year Elementary education student at Bishop’s University, is the recipient of the Community Service Award from the Golden Key International Honor Society. The award recognizes Golden Key members for outstanding and impactful service to the community.
Ms. Zucker was thrilled to receive the $1,000 award, saying: “I am truly honoured and thankful to be the recipient of the Golden Key’s Community Service Scholarship Award. I am a strong believer in volunteering within my community and this award is further inspiration to continue giving back to the people and places that support me in my pursuits.’’
Miles Turnbull, Vice-Principal Academic for Bishop’s University, congratulated Ms. Zucker: ‘’This is a special honor for one of our top students. This recognition highlights Erica’s outstanding service to the community. Her work with the Lennoxville Empty Bowls event and her volunteering in local schools are particularly noteworthy. We are very proud of Erica!’’
Ms. Zucker joined the Golden Key Honor Society in the fall of 2013 and then the Bishop’s Executive Committee shortly thereafter as the Chapter Webmaster. “Joining the Golden Key provided me with membership to a network of like-minded scholars, both at Bishop’s and in the international intellectual community. It has given me access to opportunities, such as conferences and scholarships, to enrich my overall experience as a student. I am confident that being a member of the Golden Key will continue to be an asset in my future endeavours,” she says.
The Society awards more than $1 million annually to high achieving students around the world.
Golden Key is the world’s largest honor society, with over 2 million members and over 400 chapters around the world. While membership in Golden Key begins with academic excellence, the Society’s core mission is to enable members to realize their potential through three pillars: academics, leadership and service.
