Dewar Named Provigo, Robert Lafond Athlete Of The Week
TheBishop’s University Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to announce that Ryan Dewar of the men’s lacrosse team has been named Provigo, Robert Lafond Athlete of the Week.
Dewar, a Cornwall, Ontario native potted nine goals and added nine assists in the Gaiters two lop-sided victories over Concordia this week. The third-year attack also had a strong showing at the Norwich State Jamboree, an unofficial exhibition event the Gaiters participated in over the weekend. The biology student found the back of the net five times and added four assists in Montreal on Thanksgiving Monday night as the Gaiters rolled to a 27-1 victory. In the backend of the home-and-home series he scored four goals and dished out five assists while the Gaiters cruised to a 20-2 win on Coulter Field on Sunday.
Dewar will lead the men’s lacrosse squad into their final weekend of the regular season. They play at Carleton on Saturday night and host the Ravens on Sunday. Bishop’s has locked up a home playoff game in the first round of the CUFLA East playoffs. A ticket to the Baggataway Cup championships will be up for grabs on Saturday, November 1. Aiden McGillis, women’s soccer – helped dominate the midfield and control the pace of the game despite the Gaiters two losses this weekend.
Vincent Dube, football – set a Gaiters modern-day Bishop’s record with an 81-yard punt at Laval on Sunday. Sunnyside Elementary’s fastest students took part in the Cross Country Run at Alexander Galt High School on October 15th. Two of the outstanding students were Britney Chamberlain, who came in at 7th place, and Dylan Catchpaw, who finished in 10th place. Congratulations to all of the students for their determination!
