LastThursday, the arrested a Sherbrooke man for child pornography and luring children. Thirty-one year-old Simon Fortier appeared at the Sherbrooke Courthouse to face one charge of possession of child pornography. The man had been in contact with young girls via social media as he pretended to be female. He told them that he worked for a modeling agency and talked some girls into undressing and posing for a webcam. The police carried out a search of his home and took some computer material to be analyzed. Anyone with more information about this man can contact the criminal information centre at 1 800 659-4264. The two eighteen year-olds who died early Sunday morning when their vehicle went off route 206 in Ste. Edwidge de Clifton have been identified as Tristan Hivert and Ludovic Vachon. The investigation is continuing and alcohol, speed, and not wearing seatbelts are suspected to have been a factor in the tragic accident.
During the Operation Nocturne on Friday night, officers arrested a 30 year-old man who was in a toilet in a Magog bar doing cocaine. A complaint from a citizen about the smell of pot led officers to an apartment on Giguere Street on Saturday night where they found 1.5 grams of marijuana on the kitchen counter and arrested the 51 year-old occupant who was later released.
