Stanstead teams do­ing well

T week­end in front of a de­cent home crowd and sev­eral scouts, in­clud­ing a re­cruiter from Hockey Canada. The Spar­tans tied their first game 2 to 2 against RNS, tied their sec­ond game 1 to 1 against KES, won their third game 2 to 1 against North­wood, and won their fourth game against Rice, 5 to 2. The Stanstead Col­lege girls var­sity hockey team will play at pm, against On­tario Hockey Academy.

Stanstead Col­lege’s boys var­sity hockey - ing to the Di­rec­tor of Hockey Op­er­a­tions at the pri­vate school, James Rioux. The team beat Lake For­est 4 to 0, Loy­ola 5 to 0, Gil­mour 2 to 1, Saint Fran­cis 5 to 1, and Shady Side 8 to 0. “They are in first place after last week­end,” said Mr. Rioux. The boys have a big week com­ing up, play­ing three games against some very strong Amer­i­can teams.

Mr. Rioux at­tended the long-awaited Hockey Hall of Fame, on Mon­day in Toronto. “It was a won­der­ful cer­e­mony and won­der­ful he com­mented.
