Cocaine bust in Stanstead
Last Thursday, SQ officers arrested a 39 year-old man suspected of selling cocaine in Stanstead. After receiving information from the public, an investigation began in the summer which led to identifying and finding the place of residence of the suspect. The operation, which involved eight officers, took place in the afternoon of November 20th on Principale Street, in Stanstead. The suspect was arrested not far from his home and had about a dozen bags containing a white powder on his person. Officers also searched his residence, on top of a business, where they found cannabis and hashish. The man, who has priors, will appear in court and be charged with drug trafficking and possession of drugs with intent to traffic. As we went to press, the name of the suspect had not yet been released by the authorities.
An investigation was begun yesterday following the discovery of a body in a Lac-Brome residence where there had been a fire. The firefighters called the Sureté du Quebec around 6:00 pm after finding the body of a 49 yearold woman. A fire scene technician and an investigator were called in to investigate the scene.
On Monday, SQ officers began an inquiry after receiving a complaint about the theft of agricultural machinery. The theft took place between November 22nd and November 24th on a property on route 208, in Hatley.
The equipment stolen was: John Deere tractor, model 6430 (2012), with clamps for round bales; John Deere tractor model 6330 (2010) with a black shovel; mechanical rake Class model 750.
