Co­caine bust in Stanstead

Last Thurs­day, SQ of­fi­cers ar­rested a 39 year-old man sus­pected of sell­ing co­caine in Stanstead. After re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion from the pub­lic, an in­ves­ti­ga­tion be­gan in the sum­mer which led to iden­ti­fy­ing and find­ing the place of res­i­dence of the sus­pect. The op­er­a­tion, which in­volved eight of­fi­cers, took place in the af­ter­noon of Novem­ber 20th on Prin­ci­pale Street, in Stanstead. The sus­pect was ar­rested not far from his home and had about a dozen bags con­tain­ing a white pow­der on his per­son. Of­fi­cers also searched his res­i­dence, on top of a business, where they found cannabis and hashish. The man, who has pri­ors, will ap­pear in court and be charged with drug trafficking and pos­ses­sion of drugs with in­tent to traf­fic. As we went to press, the name of the sus­pect had not yet been re­leased by the au­thor­i­ties.

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion was be­gun yes­ter­day fol­low­ing the dis­cov­ery of a body in a Lac-Brome res­i­dence where there had been a fire. The fire­fight­ers called the Sureté du Que­bec around 6:00 pm after find­ing the body of a 49 yearold woman. A fire scene tech­ni­cian and an in­ves­ti­ga­tor were called in to in­ves­ti­gate the scene.

On Mon­day, SQ of­fi­cers be­gan an in­quiry after re­ceiv­ing a com­plaint about the theft of agri­cul­tural ma­chin­ery. The theft took place be­tween Novem­ber 22nd and Novem­ber 24th on a prop­erty on route 208, in Hat­ley.

The equip­ment stolen was: John Deere trac­tor, model 6430 (2012), with clamps for round bales; John Deere trac­tor model 6330 (2010) with a black shovel; me­chan­i­cal rake Class model 750.
