Pink Rib­bon Cook­ing Demo® Comes to NCH

Chef Cur­tiss Hemm of Peru, New York, pro­vided a guest cook­ing demo in North Coun­try Hos­pi­tal’s cafe­te­ria this past Tues­day to teach us how to pre­pare healthy, real food. Chef Hemm is ded­i­cated to eat­ing clean and show­ing oth­ers not just how to do this, but how to do it well.

Through Pink Rib­bon Cook­ing ® , Chef Cur­tiss seeks to ed­u­cate can­cer sur­vivors and those look­ing to pre­vent the dis­ease in sub­jects re­lated to how food, nu­tri­tion and diet can im­prove the qual­ity of life be­fore, dur­ing and after a can­cer di­ag­no­sis, shar­ing sim­ple and healthy recipes, tech­niques and ap­proaches to cook­ing food the en­tire fam­ily will en­joy.

Chef Cur­tiss’ top three on his food phi­los­o­phy list are: 1) Food should be en­joyed in its fresh­est and most nat­u­ral states, 2) Good cook­ing can only be the re­sult of good in­gre­di­ents, so choose great in­gre­di­ents, and 3) Ar­ti­fi­cial or pro­cessed foods are not rec­om­mended as main­stay in­gre­di­ents, as they of­fer lit­tle fla­vor or ap­peal. How­ever, some are ex­cel­lent back­ground in­gre­di­ents that oth­er­wise would be the source of empty calo­ries and nu­tri­ents.
