Pink Ribbon Cooking Demo® Comes to NCH
Chef Curtiss Hemm of Peru, New York, provided a guest cooking demo in North Country Hospital’s cafeteria this past Tuesday to teach us how to prepare healthy, real food. Chef Hemm is dedicated to eating clean and showing others not just how to do this, but how to do it well.
Through Pink Ribbon Cooking ® , Chef Curtiss seeks to educate cancer survivors and those looking to prevent the disease in subjects related to how food, nutrition and diet can improve the quality of life before, during and after a cancer diagnosis, sharing simple and healthy recipes, techniques and approaches to cooking food the entire family will enjoy.
Chef Curtiss’ top three on his food philosophy list are: 1) Food should be enjoyed in its freshest and most natural states, 2) Good cooking can only be the result of good ingredients, so choose great ingredients, and 3) Artificial or processed foods are not recommended as mainstay ingredients, as they offer little flavor or appeal. However, some are excellent background ingredients that otherwise would be the source of empty calories and nutrients.
