Local Women receive award from Les P.É.P.I.N.E.S.!
Brendalee Piironen honored at the 10th annual “soirée Aequitas” sponsored by les P.É.P.I.N.E.S (Promotion des Estriennes pour initier une nouvelle équité sociale).
Les P.É.P.I.N.E.S. was founded in 1992 with the incentive of integrating more women to be involved in the decisions made within their community. The organization is involved in an array of activities such as consultation and representation of women’s interests on the regional scene, information and training for women, as well as awareness and promotion the equality and equity. Their area of intervention is the Estrie Region.
Their team is comprised of women from the MRC de l’Estrie who work in fields as diverse as communication, education and business. Members attain expertise in social intervention, human resource management, economic development, career counseling, education and social sciences.
The “Soirée Aequitas” held on December 4th, 2014, was dedicated to honor women in the Estrie region who display an exemplary leadership role in their environment. A selection committee from this organization visited each MRC in the Estrie region to choose the most deserving candidates of which Mrs. Brendalee Piironen, Executive Director of the Wales Home in Cleveland was one of the selected few!
The Wales Home is proud to have Piironen recognized for her achievements in geriatric health care and look forward to her continued success. Brendalee thanked her colleagues, volunteers and the Board of Directors for their support. She dedicated this award in memory of her mother who inspired her to devote herself to the healthcare field.
Also honored during the event was Magog mayor Vicki May Hamm who, besides running the City of Magog, is involved in many other regional and provincial causes.
