Great turnout for dart tournament
The Stanstead Legion was full of dart players, last Saturday, for the 13th annual “Come shoot for a cure” dart tournament. Thirty-four teams took part in the mixed doubles tournament, organized by Marilyn McComb, that raises money every year for cancer research. There were eleven team winners and then all six team winners threw three darts each to determine the top players which were Laurie Lyonnais and Russell Waller.
During the event, money is also raised with a Silent Auction, the selling of hamburgers and hotdogs, and two half and halfs and a raffle. Gordie Sidel won $100 with the half and half while Paul Bolduc won $89. The raffle was won by Mary Hartley.
“We raised over $600 with the auction alone, but I still don’t have the total for the tournament because we’re waiting for a few more cheques to come in,” explained Ms. McComb. The total will be reported in next week’s newspaper.
