Local cadet gives up command
The Magog Marine Cadets held a special mid-season ceremony, last Friday, and it will be one of the last ones for local Cadet Nicholas Boudreau who recently turned nineteen. “We held a ‘Promise’ ceremony and we gave out different awards during the event,” said Nicholas’ father Vincent Boudreau, the president of the Magog Marine Cadets. Nicholas is finishing his service with the Cadets as the troupe’s First class officer.
It is free to join the older Cadets (12 to 19 years) and only $50 a year to join the younger Cadets (9 to 12 years old). The Cadets take part in loads of activities and outings and can earn money and learn valuable skills through the program. “Vincent learnt to sail with the Cadets and he now has his bronze level sailing. The Cadets keeps the kids very active and involved,” commented Mr. Boudreau.
