TheStanstead Entertainment Centre held its 16th edition of the Friendly Company Tournament over the weekend, raising over $1,100 for five local organizations to share. The annual fundraiser always focuses on services for children in the area and, this year, gave $225 each to the following: Raymond Parent’s softball league; Stanstead Soccer Club; Jardin-des-Frontieres school; Sunnyside Elementary School; and Border Minor Hockey.

“We were really pleased with the turnout for the tournament, we had twentyfour teams. We’ve been here for four years and it’s the first time that we were full for this tournament. We appreciate all the support from the businesses,” said Angela Leith, one of the organizers. “We’re happy to give to the local children’s organizations,” she added.

This year’s winners of the tournament were the same ones as last year, only they switched places. The main winners were the Hat Trick Hockey Pro Shop team, which won the ‘total pin scratch’ last year. Nanny Doreen’s Daycare, which won the overall prize last year, this time took the ‘total pin scratch’ prize!

Now is a good time to try out bowling again or for a first time: there are special prices with the Saturday Night Fever events every weekend and during the school break.
