Provincial Masters Slide Into Lennoxville
The Lennoxville Curling Club is gearing up to welcome the best women’s curlers over the age of 60 to the region. The 2015 Provincial Masters Women’s Curling Championship takes place from March 3rd to 8th. A ticket to Curling Canada’s National Championship is on the line as the seven teams compete.
Opening ceremonies kicked off the event on Tuesday, March 3, at the club. On-ice action gets underway on Wednesday morning with games starting at 9 a.m.
Among the teams playing this week include the reigning champions from Boucherville skipped by Danielle Lever. Teams from Trois Rivieres, Glenmore, Lachine and two entries from the Lacolle Curling Club will descend to the region looking for the 2015 title. Local skip Celine Funk from the Sherbrooke Curling Club and her team of Nicole Verville, Louise Gaudreault and Jessie Venner are also looking to punch their ticket to Canadian Masters Championships that are set for March 30 to April 5 in Whitehorse.
All the games will take place on the two sheets of ice at the Lennoxville Curling Club. There will be three draws on Wednesday and Thursday at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Friday at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Saturday will see the round robin come to a close with games at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Any tiebreakers will take place on Friday evening.
Sunday kicks off with the semi-final at 9 a.m. and concludes with the championship final at 2 p.m. with medal presentations and closing ceremonies to follow.
Admission to the event is free and open to anyone looking to take in some of the best curling this province has to offer. An added bonus the club’s kitchen is open each day for lunch.
