Pro­vin­cial Masters Slide Into Lennoxville

The Lennoxville Curl­ing Club is gear­ing up to wel­come the best women’s curlers over the age of 60 to the re­gion. The 2015 Pro­vin­cial Masters Women’s Curl­ing Cham­pi­onship takes place from March 3rd to 8th. A ticket to Curl­ing Canada’s Na­tional Cham­pi­onship is on the line as the seven teams com­pete.

Open­ing cer­e­monies kicked off the event on Tues­day, March 3, at the club. On-ice ac­tion gets un­der­way on Wed­nes­day morn­ing with games start­ing at 9 a.m.

Among the teams play­ing this week in­clude the reign­ing cham­pi­ons from Boucherville skipped by Danielle Lever. Teams from Trois Rivieres, Glen­more, La­chine and two en­tries from the La­colle Curl­ing Club will de­scend to the re­gion look­ing for the 2015 ti­tle. Lo­cal skip Ce­line Funk from the Sher­brooke Curl­ing Club and her team of Ni­cole Verville, Louise Gau­dreault and Jessie Ven­ner are also look­ing to punch their ticket to Canadian Masters Cham­pi­onships that are set for March 30 to April 5 in White­horse.

All the games will take place on the two sheets of ice at the Lennoxville Curl­ing Club. There will be three draws on Wed­nes­day and Thurs­day at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Fri­day at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Satur­day will see the round robin come to a close with games at 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Any tiebreak­ers will take place on Fri­day evening.

Sun­day kicks off with the semi-fi­nal at 9 a.m. and concludes with the cham­pi­onship fi­nal at 2 p.m. with medal pre­sen­ta­tions and closing cer­e­monies to fol­low.

Ad­mis­sion to the event is free and open to any­one look­ing to take in some of the best curl­ing this prov­ince has to of­fer. An added bonus the club’s kitchen is open each day for lunch.
