Fierce fire in Stanstead Township

Stanstead Journal - - FRONT PAGE - Staff, Stanstead Township

Afire completely destroyed in minutes a log home on alli res Road in Stanstead Township late Monday afternoon. Almost at the end of the Township’s territory, completely inaccessible to fire trucks, on top of a small winding road, the house was impossible to save. “Even during the summer, one of our trucks would have had trouble reaching it”, said a fireman. We can vouch that a small pickup seen on the site yesterday was only able to reach the middle of the road.

Truckload after truckload of water had to be fetched kilometers away to feed the efforts of the Township’s firefighters who were joined by their Stanstead and Ayer’s Cliff colleagues to no avail.

The blaze was intense as this picture taken trough branches and trees, over one hundred meters away, shows.

Water tanks were being emptied one after the other.
