Town­ships ath­letes bring home medals from

Many­lo­cal young ath­letes came home with medals from the Jeu du uebec which was held from Fe­bru­ary 27th to March 7th, in Drum­mondville. Medal win­ners from the Mem­phrem­a­gog MRC were: Mar­ilou Beaudry, sil­ver, syn­chro­nized swim­ming; Anne-So­phie La­pointe, sil­ver, fenc- ing; Nelly La­pointe, sil­ver, girls hockey; Sarah Maude Morin, one gold and two sil­ver, alpine ski­ing; and Olivier Sam­son, two bronze, gym­nas­tics. Artis­tic skater Oceanne Ra­jotte, from Ma­gog, took part in the Spe­cial Olympics cat­e­gory of the games and won a gold medal. Un­for­tu­nately, it was an­nounced dur­ing this year’s games, that the Spe­cial Olympics cat­e­gory would not be in­cluded next year due to a lack of par­tic­i­pants.

Ath­letes from the Coat­i­cook MRC who stood out dur­ing the games were Lay­lah Nox Tardif McComb, of Water­ville, who re­ceived a sil­ver medal in judo, and Ros­alie Mar­tel, also of Water­ville, who re­ceived a sil­ver medal in syn­chro­nized swim­ming. 830 Pope Street.
