Twolocal Stanstead children, twins Caresse and Cazian Comeau-Elman, have been excelling just south of the border in their respective pastimes. Caresse, who tap dances with the North Country School of Dance, in Newport, received the gold and platinum ribbons at an American national dance competition held in Massachusetts last March. She has been tap-dancing for five years, since she was only four.

Cazian, who is a member of the NorthEast Kingdom Pythons Youth Wrestling Club, in Coventry, recently came home with the State Championship after a record of 19 and 0 during the regular season. “As far as we know there has never been a Canadian with the American State Championship before,” said Cazian’s father, Willie Elman, who also commented that it was hard to find activities locally for children.
