TheHat­ley-Stanstead Women’s In­sti­tute met at the home of Irene and Gor­don Humphrey on April 2nd 2015 at 1 p.m. Our hostesses Irene and Bar­bara had made a beau­ti­ful ar­ray of Easter good­ies, con­sist­ing of Easter Bas­ket cup­cakes, Hot Cross Buns and we sang Happy Birth­day to Barb He­witt as she cut the beau­ti­ful Easter cake. The Mary Ste­wart Grace was said and all en­joyed a so­cial hour. Phyl­lis opened the meet­ing at 2 p.m. thank­ing the hostesses for the lovely lunch and wel­com­ing ev­ery­one. The meet­ing started with Phyl­lis wel­com­ing and pre­sent­ing new mem­ber Elaine Stone with her W.I. pin, and ex­press­ing how happy we all are to have her join our branch.

The Col­lect, Salute to the Flag and the Lord’s Prayer was re­peated in uni­son. A minute of si­lence was held in mem­ory of a dear mem­ber, Phyl­lis Knapp, who passed away in March. A Memoriam in mem­ory of Phyl­lis Knapp was dis­cussed.

The Motto: A teacher is one who takes many live wires and see that they are well grounded. The Trea­sur­ers Re­port was given and showed a favourable bal­ance.

The Roll Call was an­swered by seven mem­bers, which was to re­port some­thing in­ter­est­ing in other W.I. news. We had all en­joyed the jokes in the Fordyce news.

Phyl­lis re­minded ev­ery­one that April 22nd was Earth day. We should do our part to help keep our earth clean. Also April 29th is ACWW day.

Tea, Birth­day, Cal­en­dar money and coins for Friend­ship were col­lected. Jean Cass read the min­utes of the March meet­ing. There was no er­rors or omis­sions, they were passed as read.

Sun­shine Re­port: The sun popped it’s head out 25 times in March, with Rev. Doreen col­lect­ing her quar­ters for her Sun­shine bank. Doreen re­ported she had been to visit Phyl­lis Knapp in early March.

Cor­re­spon­dence: Gen­eveive Shep­herd sent a mes­sage that she ap­pre­ci­ated her
