Yesterday, the Sureté du Quebec was called to a fire in Maricourt. When the firefighters arrived at a property on route 222 to respond to a brush fire that was spreading to a farm building, they discovered a body in the field. The victim could be the owner of the property, but it has not been confirmed. A coroner’s inquest is under way.

Last Wednesday, the SQ was called when a man left the Coaticook hospital in a drunken state and drove off. When an officer tried to intercept the driver in town, the suspect sped away down route 141 towards St. Hermenegilde where he was stopped at a police blockade.

The Sureté du Quebec de l’Estrie held its annual Blood Drive last Thursday, April 30th, and Friday, May 1st, at the Carrefour de l’Estrie. A record 608 donors came out to give blood.
