Stanstead Journal - - FORUM - Victoria Vanier, Stanstead

throw away those extra perennials you divide or dig up from your gardens this spring, the Colby-Curtis Museum’s yearly plant sale is coming up on May 30th and it’s one of the museum’s important fundraisers. The ‘perennial’ donations can be brought to the museum on the Thursday and Friday before the sale, where somebody will take them off your hands, and on the morning of the sale before 9:00 am, when the sale begins. All plants must be labelled with variety, height and colour. The sale is also a great opportunity to get new plants for your perennial beds at bargain prices.

spring Lecture-Luncheon will also take place on May 30th, beginning at 10:20 am. The speaker is art historian Dr. Monique Nadeau Saumier whose topic will be a group of Canadian female artists from the early 1900’s who often came to the Eastern Townships on sketching expeditions. Some of those now famous artists include Mabel May, Mabel Lockerby, Lilias Torrance Newton and Emily Coonan. This should be a very popular luncheon so people interested in attending should reserve by May 27th by calling the museum at 819 876-7322. The streamline process allows you to file three years of tax returns and 6 years of FBAR reports and avoid penalties. If you have received a demand from the IRS, it will be difficult to cancel penalties. In order to file your US tax returns you must have a US Social Security Number. After applying the foreign tax credit for taxes paid in Canada you will seldom have taxes to pay to the US. After 42 years of preparing Canadian and Quebec income tax returns, we are now preparing US tax returns and FBAR reports for dual citizen non-residing in the US.
