The Dandies are here. It’s Time to Run! Just for the Fun of It

Thedan­de­lions are here and run­ners are on their way from all over Ver­mont and the na­tion to cel­e­brate High Spring in The King­dom. Run­ners from Ari­zona, Cal­i­for­nia, Colorado, Illi­nois, Ken­tucky, Mas­sachusetts, Mary­land, New Hamp­shire, New Jer­sey, New York, Que­bec, Rhode Is­land, Ten­nessee, Vir­ginia, Ver­mont, and Wash­ing­ton will be hit­ting the back coun­try dirt roads through the world fa­mous Dan­de­lion Fields of Derby, Mor­gan and Hol­land.

dan­de­lions should be just about peak­ing at next Satur­day’s run which starts at 9 am on May 23, 2015 at The Derby Beach House on the 4H Road in Derby, VT. The run in­cludes a half marathon and 10 K op­tion with re­lay op­tions on both cour­ses. On line reg­is­tra­tion is open at www.dan­de­lion­ Walk in reg­is­tra­tions on the day of the run are also ac­cepted.

place male and fe­male half marathon­ers will win a Sea­son’s Ski Pass to Q Burke Moun­tain Re­sort. Prizes also in­clude beef jerky, maple syrup, and cedar­wood “woodals”

100 area youth are ex­pected to par­tic­i­pate in the 10 K youth re­lay op­tion with each young run­ner do­ing 1, 2, or 3 miles. El­e­men­tary schools from around the county will be rep­re­sented.

Reck­less Break­fast, Patti Casey, and Don Houghton Jr. will be out on the course at the re­lay sta­tions and will be play­ing back at the Derby Beach House for our in­for­mal pic­nic lunch and Dan­de­lion Fes­ti­val of Blue­grass, Fid­dle, and Folk mu­sic.

Break­fast will also be play­ing at The East­Side Restau­rant on Fri­day evening, May 22nd from about 6:30 to 9:00 pm. It is open to the public. There is no cover. For reser­va­tions call The East­Side at 802-334-0234

Dan­de­lion Run hon­ors the mem­ory of Terri Weed who was mur­dered on May 21, 1981. 20% of all adult reg­is­tra­tion fees is do­nated to Um­brella its ad­vo­cacy and sup­port for vic­tims of vi­o­lence.
