Music, Music And More Music In North Hatley This Summer
TheMassawippi Music Festival (presented by the Estria Woodwind Quintet) will be picking up where the Lake Massawippi Festival left off almost a decade ago. As in the past, these concerts will take place at St. Elizabeth’s Church and the festival will present a concert each Saturday during the month of June (6, 13, 20 and 27). The concerts will begin at 8 pm and will be preceded by a conference at 7:30 pm. The event will host a star studded line-up of performers, including the early music ensemble, LES VOIX HUMAINES, the prodigiously talented Sherbrooke pianist, TRISTAN LONGVAL-GAGNÉ, the concertmaster of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, JONATHAN CROW, with pianist PHILIP CHIU, and the principal flautist of the Montréal Symphony Orchestra, TIMOTHY HUTCHINS, with pianist JANET CREASER HUTCHINS. Tickets for the festival are available for purchase in advance at The Uplands Cultural and Heritage Centre (9 Speid) or by mail by visiting the web page http://pages.globetrotter. net/estria/MusiqueMassawippi.html Seats are very limited so advance purchase is strongly recommended. DREAMLAND CONCERTS:
The municipality of the Village of North Hatley will be presenting a series of free concerts in the Scowen gazebo of Dreamland Park during the months of July and August. In addition to special concerts on June 24th and July 1st, there will be a concert presented every Saturday evening at 7:30 pm and every Sunday at noon, starting on July 11th. The public is invited to bring a picnic or to take advantage of the delights that the village restaurants and cafés have to offer, this in addition to enjoying this idyllic spot in one of Québec’s most beautiful villages.
