Of­fi­cer­swith the Sureté du Que­bec car­ried out a search at a res­i­dence on Hol­land Street, in Stanstead, last Wed­nes­day. They found a mar­i­juana grow-op in op­er­a­tion in the base­ment and seized more than two hun­dred and seventy cannabis plants in dif­fer­ent stages of growth, as well as about one hun­dred grams of bulk mar­i­juana and a small amount of hashish. The res­i­dent, a forty-four year-old man, was ar­rested and will ap­pear in court at a later date. The op­er­a­tion was car­ried out af­ter a short in­ves­ti­ga­tion that was ini­ti­ated from in­for­ma­tion that came from the public.

In the wee hours of Mon­day morn­ing, around 3:15 am, a store win­dow on Prin­ci­pale, in Ma­gog, was smashed by a twenty yearold man be­cause he was in a rage af­ter a dis­agree­ment in a Ma­gog bar. The man in­jured his leg when he broke the win­dow and had to be treated at the hos­pi­tal.

A search was done by the SQ in a home on the Kingscroft Road in Barn­ston West, yes­ter­day, af­ter re­ceiv­ing in­for­ma­tion from the public. The res­i­dents, a man and a woman, were sus­pected of be­ing in­volved in an il­le­gal tobacco net­work. Two packages con­tain­ing two hun­dred cig­a­rettes each as well as two boxes con­tain­ing sev­eral packages of il­le­gal tobacco were found.
