Stanstead Journal - - NEWS - Victoria Vanier

TD Summer Reading Club is a free, family-oriented bilingual program that aims to give young people a taste for reading in the summer. For the 18th edition, the TD Summer Reading Club will take place in almost 400 libraries all over Quebec, twenty-one of those in the Estrie region. Nearby libraries that are participating include the Haskell Free Library, in Stanstead, the Lennoxville Library, the Memphremagog Library (Magog), Francoise Maurice Library (Coaticook), Compton Library, Rock Forest Library, Eva Senecal Library (Sherbrooke), and the Waterville Library.

instilling the love of summer reading in young people, the Club also brings families together in a shared activity and reinforces self-esteem. To take part in the free Club, parents only have to register their children at the nearest participating library. They will receive, for free, a summer reading kit with a reading booklet and twelve stickers to help motivate them. There will also be free activities at the libraries and a website (www. tdsummerreadingclub.ca) where kids can discover new books to read, read comments about the books by other readers, share stories and jokes with other readers across Canada.

libraries will also be promoting twenty ‘star’ books, ten in English and ten in French, that have been chosen by young readers and were written and illustrated by Canadian artists.
