Nomination Last Call for Townshippers’ Two Community Contribution Awards
Thenomination period of August 28, 2015 is drawing near for two community contribution awards from Townshippers’ Association. The association is welcoming nominations for the Outstanding Townshippers and Young Townships Leader Award, two awards that recognize exceptional contributions of individuals, groups and youth who have gone above and beyond in contributing to the vitality of the English-speaking community of the Eastern Townships. The Outstanding Townshippers recognizes individuals, couples and groups, from all walks of life, who have made considerable contributions — beyond the usual expectations of their job or profession, through volunteerism, social activism, mentoring, or philanthropy — to the life of the Eastern Townships English-speaking community. Candidates for the award can be of any age as long as they have demonstrated their commitment in any field to help make their community a better place to live, work and raise a family. Nominations forms can be downloaded from the Community section of Townshippers.org and are available at Townshippers’ Association’s offices. Geared towards youth age 15 to 35, the Young Townships Leader Award (YTLA) specifically highlights youth achievements, dynamism and involvement by celebrating young people who serve as role models to other youth as well as to adults. Candidates must have carried out actions or initiatives demonstrating lead- ership within the Eastern Townships English-speaking community in the past two years. One winner will be chosen to receive a beautifully framed certificate, as well as a cash prize. Nomination forms can be downloaded from the Youth section at Townshippers.org and are available at Townshippers’ Association’s offices. Recipients of both awards will be recognized following the Townshippers’ Day opening ceremonies on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at the Brome fairgrounds, 345 Stagecoach Road.
