Tryouts for community junior girls basketball September 13
junior-age girl basketball players are invited to try out for the new Stanstead-based community team, which will participate in their first tournament in Brampton, Ont. September 26-27.
for the event will take place between 6:00-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13 in the John Mackay Gymnasium for girls 13-17 years of age followed by a try-out session from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
the tryouts, selected girls will train at Stanstead College over the weekend of September 19 and 20, with departure for the CROWN Scout 2015 Fall Event in Brampton the following weekend.
Scout has partnered with Ontario’s JUEL for this tournament. Along with JUEL and JUEL Prep teams, the tournament is expecting to see teams from OBA, CYBL as well as teams from Quebec and western New York. Last year, over 40 NCAA Division I coaches attended this U19 and U15 girls tournament.
team that comes out of next week’s tryouts will form the basis for Stanstead’s own JUEL-associated team, which, under the coaching of Mark Bembenek and Fred Grannum, will help promote and develop girls basketball in the region. The team will be built around national-level high-performance skills development and training.
