Students get their Galas
Students from Sunnyside Elementary and Jardin-des-Frontieres, along with their parents, were busy in the Stevens Orchard, on Sunday, picking and grading the new crop of Gala apples. Mother Nature cooperated once again for this annual event, providing warm, sunny weather for the harvest. The final result was 51 bushels, or 2040 pounds of Gala apples, too small for the commercial market, which will be stored and delivered several times a month to the two schools by orchard owner Harvey Stevens.
