Thousands of runners expected for Magog Marathon

Stanstead Journal - - CLASSIFIED - Magog

of this year’s Marathon de Magog, the event’s fourth edition, are expecting more than two thousand runners to take part in the multi-length event. And always happy to get local businesses involved, the organizers have asked Andrew Stoy, of Chez l’Barbier, to do old-fashioned shaves and haircuts; the Bistro Chez Sirano will serve onion soup to all the runners after the races: and make-up artist Annie Poulin, of Magog, will decorate the faces of children Sunday morning.

Marathon de Magog is also proud to be associated with the new manufacturer of the energy gel Brix. The new product has a maple syrup base and is without any additives, is conceived and made in Quebec, and will be the ‘official’ energy provider for the runners. Also, thanks to Krispy Kernels, the marathoners will have the chance to win a one week vacation for two to the Bahamas as well as the chance to take part in the Nassau Marathon if they are able to run a 43rd kilometer at the end of their race.

to the partnership with the Federation des Producteurs de Lait du Quebec, the specialist of the 1500m, Charles Philibert Thiboutot, will be at the event where, among other duties, he will open the children’s race. Mr. Philibert Thiboutot finished in third place at the Pan am Games in Toronto, a 15th place at the World Championships, and set a Quebec record in the 1000m with a time of 2:21:02.
